A representative journey flow
From Peru’s Sacred Valley to the Amazon
Travel through the Andes during Peru’s winter-solstice season, experience Machu Picchu and other remarkable sites, then continue by air and boat into the Amazon. Along the way, local culture, shared meals, music, breathwork, songwriting, rest, and group sessions make room for both an outer adventure and an inner journey.
This is a representative journey flow, not a fixed daily schedule. These destinations and experiences are planned for the retreat, while their exact order and timing may change as local conditions and final arrangements are confirmed.

Chapter One · Arrival and the Andes
Meet in Lima, then enter the Sacred Valley.

What are the accommodations like?
The planned accommodations are primarily four- and five-star hotels, including comfortable properties in Lima and Cusco that Sacred Spiritual Tours has used on prior journeys.
The Amazon portion is planned at an upgraded jungle lodge with continuous power, a pool, and a more resort-like experience than the lodge used on previous tours.
Are airport transfers included?
Yes. Group transfers are included for the primary arrival and departure windows communicated to registered guests. Arriving outside those windows may require a separately arranged and paid transfer.
What are the luggage limits for in-country flights and trains?
In-country flights typically permit one suitcase weighing up to 40 pounds and one personal item, such as a backpack or purse. Final carrier requirements will be confirmed with registered guests.
Suitcases are not permitted on the train to Machu Picchu. Your larger luggage will remain in secure storage while you take a small personal bag for that portion of the journey.
Can I request aisle or window seats?
Specific seats may generally be reserved on the in-country flights for a small additional charge. The retreat team will coordinate preferences with registered guests.
The Machu Picchu train does not permit advance seat selection. Seating is arranged in two-seat rows with tables, and the group will cooperate when possible to accommodate window-seat preferences.
Will help be available with luggage and group tipping?
Drivers and one or two tour assistants are expected to help with luggage during group transfers. The retreat team will handle group tips at restaurants and for drivers.
Some personal interactions may call for a small individual tip, such as photographing local people with llamas or alpacas. Guidance will be provided during the journey.
What should I know about altitude?
Cusco and several other locations are at high elevation, and some travelers experience temporary altitude effects. The journey allows time for gradual adjustment, but travelers should discuss their individual health needs and altitude preparation with a qualified healthcare professional.
What vaccines or medicines should I consider?
Health recommendations depend on your medical history and the areas included in your travel. Consult a travel-medicine professional at least one month before departure.
Peru does not require a yellow fever vaccination for entry, but the CDC recommends it for many travelers visiting lower-elevation areas in Loreto, the region that includes Iquitos. The CDC also recommends discussing malaria-prevention medication for travel to the Iquitos area.
Review the current CDC guidance for Peru and follow the advice of your healthcare professional.
What travel insurance should I purchase?
Travel insurance is required. Choose coverage appropriate for international travel, trip interruption or cancellation, medical treatment, and medical evacuation. Review exclusions, covered reasons, and claim requirements carefully before purchasing.
Some past participants have used John Hancock Travel Insurance. This is shared as a prior-participant example, not a guarantee of coverage or claim approval.
What should I pack?
A detailed packing list will be provided after registration. Plan for comfortable walking shoes, layers for changing climates, rain protection, sun and insect protection, required medications, and personal essentials for a multi-location journey.
Can I arrive early or extend my stay?
Yes. You may arrive before June 16 or remain in Peru after July 1. Additional lodging, transportation, meals, and other extended-travel arrangements are planned and paid for independently.
